GONCALVES FUMO IN MOZAMBIQUE SQUAD
Mozambique have managed to call up one of their Portuguese based contingent and will have four players from neighbouring South Africa in their squad for Sunday’s Cosafa Castle Cup semifinal against Angola.
Goncalves Fumo, who was man of the match when they beat Malawi in the quarter-finals earlier this year, is to travel home from Portuguese second division club Naval.
But the Mambas will not be able to call up Sporting Lisbon defender Paito nor the striker Dario because of club commitments.
Instead they have to rely on a mainly locally-based club, supplemented by players from elsewhere in Africa.
Veteran striker Tico-Tico, who is the country’s all-time leading goal scorer, travels from South Africa’s premier league along with defenders Nando and Tomas and the diminutive winger To.
Coach Ayman Al Yamany has also recalled Dario Khan and Gabito from Sudan’s Al Hilal and goalkeeper Kapagno who recently moved to Egypt’s Tersana – transfers that Al Yamany arranged.
Angola have announced a locally-based squad for the match, which marks the 100th game in the history of the southern African championship.
